It's Like Having My Name In Lights

Sara is an old high school friend who I have reconnected with thanks to the blogging world.  It has been so wonderful to get to know her family through her blog posts.  They are sweet and funny and loving.  Sara is actually the one who inspired me to start my blog, and for that I am eternally grateful.  Mixed Baby Greens has brought me endless enjoyment over the last year.  I love blogging and the connection it gives me to myself, to Elliot, and to all of you out there who stop by to peek into our life.

So you can imagine how excited I was when I opened Sara's blog this morning and saw my name shining back at me.  It felt like I was famous!  I won a giveaway that she hosted on her blog to celebrate her 500th post.  What fun!  Maybe I'll host a Mixed Baby Greens giveaway here and you all can enter to win some crafty, repurposed, home-sewn goody.  Wouldn't that be fun?!

I loved that post, too. The blanket has a story of its own...when Grandma Purple died, we wanted to move Grandpa Red back to Costa Mesa from Sun City (the one just past Lake Elsinore) so he wouldn't be so alone. That meant packing up, selling and donating a TON of stuff from their house. So I went down and spent a few days sorting and disposing of all the stuff they had accumulated over the years. When I opened a linen closet I found a box, lined with tissue, containing this blanket. Needless to say, I brought it home and kept it in MY linen closet until we knew Molly was on her way. I wrapped it up, wrote a card, and presented it to Sara at her baby shower. We were ALL overcome at her reaction, and it's been a favorite since we started using it. I'm so glad that I was the one who found it stored away; who KNOWS what would have become of it otherwise?

Susie... that is so incredibly nice of you to say! I love that I get to share my family with you through this blog. And I love that I get little glimpses of your family through Sara's blog. Jacob is absolutely beautiful. How lucky we both are! xoxo
